I love technology and when they came out with smart phones and PDAs I was hooked. I like AT&T as I used to have Sprint, but I could not get behind owning an Iphone, maybe because it’s an Apple device and I’m a PC guy. I did own a Motorola Q and really liked it but I was limited on what I can do and now I have the HTC Pure and the ability to download APPs much like the Iphone. Now the Iphone has tons of Apps, and the Windows Mobile and Android are playing catch up, it’s still nice to operate this phone that is windows based and have a few good apps to play with.

I don’t like downloading just any application on the phone, much like a computer it will only bog it down and make it run like crap. So when I come across a cool app I like to pass the word along. Oh and its rare I’ll ever buy and app, I love free apps and well, why pay money for something when you could get it for free. So chances are if you read into my website and I’m talking about something, chances are its free.

Some of the fun apps I’ve downloaded recently that most smartphones could have on them and you would enjoy:

Facebook App – great for on the fly snapping of photos and video and “click” uploaded to facebook for all to see.

Skype App – awesome for making calls overseas to family and friends who are also on Skype and not paying a fortune in phone cards. Making a call to Russia for me was free using this Skype app.

Endomondo App – getting back into shape and working out is never easy, a lot of times I found myself jogging wondering how far I ran or how long I was out exercising. This app tracks your movements, speed, distance and uploads them to a personal profile online. So after your workout, you can compare and see if you are improving.

PDAnet App – for those of us who have laptops and run into the problem of being somewhere and needing to access the internet. You find that where ever you are they have internet but you have to pay for it. Who wants to spend money on something you can find on your phone’s internet but looking at the little screen can be annoying. You have your laptop it would be so nice to look it up on it, full screen, nice keyboard, well rather than sign up for a wireless carriers “internet card” you stick in your laptop, you can use this app, tether your phone to your laptop and get internet on your laptop where ever you go, or where ever you have phone coverage. “Love this App” – works with Iphone, Android, and Windows Mobile.

And the newest one I found last night – LOOKOUT – www.mylookout.com

What’s great about this app is I often times have my phone on silent for whatever reason, and if I set it down somewhere and can’t find it, you can go online, log in to the website, and send a signal to your phone to make a loud noise. Even on silent it will make that noise, and when you have your phone set to silent you can’t just call it. And so maybe you set your phone somewhere and you can’t remember where, maybe you left it at a bar, in a friend’s car, at the office, you know it’s not in the house because you tore it apart. Well you can do a locate, just like they do on TV and find your phone, or get pretty darn close to it. “Hey my buddy lives close to there, maybe he has it”

All cool apps, all free and really worth the download.

I’m learning all about Windows vista’s Sidebar – the gadgets and all the fun they can bring.

Now because i’m on the computer all the time it seems like, i’m finding new and better ways of speed up my work flow and finding that the Sidebar provides all kinds of ways to do that.

for example, i would need to check the weather for an up and coming photo shoot.

i would have to open internet explorer, click on my link to go to www.weather.com and then check the weather. A few clicks but still takes time.

this way, all i have to do is look up and there it is.

Now some might say you could use the Weather app they have but i try to minimize the amount of applications running in the back ground. And this way i have one App – The Sidebar running and its telling me the weather, the CPU usage, my key websites i need to visit, etc.

One app to do them all.
